The Meenakshi Ammal Dental College is located at Alapakkam Main Road, Maduravoyal, Chennai. The College has been committed to Excellence in Eduation, Research, Patient Care &Community Service.

The LIBRARY which is the most important part of any educational institution is located in a floor space of 5500 Sq.Ft.It is an ideal place for widening ones intellectual horizons.It is equipped to satisfy the needs of any scholar or students, in pursuing and attaining utmost academic excellence.

The assets of our library include a collection of over 10071 Books, 36 National, and 77 International Journals and 319 CD ROMS. There is also a fully automated Photostat machine which can be utilized by the students for academic purposes. In addition there is an audio –Visual hall with provisions for LCD Projection and a selected collection of over 100 educational video tapes and CDs. There are 4 digital cameras and 5 computers with broadband internet connection and medicine database, easily accessible to students.

Meenakshi Ammal Dental College is accredited by National Assessment &Accreditation Council (NAAC) Awarded “A” GRADE in 2005.

Lecture Theatre Complex
This Lecture theatre Complex is especially designed and air conditioned built in modern day architecture, to rid even the minor day-to- day hassles of our budding professionals. It houses four well ventilated lecture halls, equipped with audio visual facilities and provisions for LCD Projection to enhance the over all understanding of the students. The complex also has two well furnished air-conditioned guest rooms
There is a fully air conditioned seminar hall with seating capacity of 100 in the second floor of administrative block.

Sports & Culturals
Apart from academic, the students are given enough opportunities to expose their hidden opportunities and their hidden talent in sports and cultural events. The campus has a play ground for outdoor games and indoor games like table tennis, carom, and chess. There is a Gymanasium with a Health instructor to encourage the students to gain fitness and thus lead a healthy life.

The College also has a music club called music makers of Meenakshi for passionate music Lovers to keep themselves in perfect rhythm.

There is a fully air conditioned auditorium equipped with digital sound system with a seating capacity of 350.

The College has a very comfortable living accommodation with separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus under the care of resident wardens. There is one hostel for boys and three for girls with enough space to accommodate the out station students.

The Hostel provides hygienic and quality food to suit diverse tastes and preferences. A Comfortable Mess hall has also been provided. The Hostel Rooms are provided with hot water facilities. The other common facilities include availability of telephone and television.

Community Service:
With the aim of preventing and controlling oral diseases and promoting oral health, the specialty of preventive and community Dentistry has been providing training to B.D.S Students and is actively involved in Public Health Services. 205 Dental Camps were held in which 77,223 people were screened and many of them were provided free treatment at the camp sites. Patients referred to the hospital are provided free treatment at the departments.
Preventive programmes are conducted at the camp sites which include demonstration of brushing techniques, lectures on prevention, and control of common dental diseases like dental caries and gum diseases with the help of peripheral centers are being run at chinmaya Nagar and Mogappair, Chennai, catering to the needs of the surrounding people by providing the necessary dental treatment at minimal charges.

A 150 bedded General Hospital Catering to the needs of the poor people managed by the Meenakshi Ammal Trust is situated within the campus. This hospital is run on a charity basis.

This hospital was started in 1988 and is recognized by the Tamilnadu Government family welfare scheme Clinical students of BDS Course and Post Graduates utilize the facilities of the hospital.

The Various Specialties functioning in the hospital are general surgery, Gastroenterology, and diabetic care with provision for free immunization. There are four fully air conditioned operation theatres functioning on a regular basis. The Hospital runs a vehicle to help transport people from inaccessible areas to the hospital. In addition a well equipped laboratory and pharmacy, ultra sonogram, eg, x-rays, and ambulance facilities are also available.



4 Academic Years
(One Year Compulsory Rotatory Internship

He/She Should have Completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the academic year in which the candidate is seeking admission.

Candidates belonging to all categories except schedules caste/scheduled tribe for admission to the course should have obtained not less than 50% mark in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany/Zoology)at the qualifying Examination (Academic Stream 10 +2 /HSE/ PUC) after a period of 12 year study. Candidates who have studied abroad, the equivalent qualification as determined by the Association of Indian universities shall form the guidelines to determine the eligibility and should have passed in the subject of Physics. Chemistry, Biology (Botany/Zoology) and English up to the 12th Standard level With 50%M arks aggregate.

Candidate beloing to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe, or other Backward Class the Minimum Marks for admission shall be 40% in lieu of 50% for General Category.

Commencement of the Course: 1st August.

1. Diploma Course in Dental Hygienists.
A Candidate Should be at least 17 Years of age at the time of admission and should be medically fit to pursue the course.

The Candidate Must have passed 10 +2 or two years intermediate or equivalent course there of with science subjects (i.e) Physics ,chemistry, and Biology from a recognized Indian University or Pre University / Intermediate Board.

2. Diploma course Dental Mechanics.
A candidate Should be at Least 17 years of age at the time of admission and Should be Medically fit to Pursue the Course

The Candidate Must Have Passed 10 +2 two Years Intermediate or equivalent course thereof with science subjects (i.e) Physics, chemistry and Biology from a recognized Indian university OR Pre-University/ Intermediate Board.
